English Exposure

About the Role

The role involves taking English Exposure Classes for Classes 3 to 10, with a focus on developing Listening, Speaking, and Reading skills in English. The facilitator will work closely with each child to build confidence and exposure to the English language, enabling children to apply their learning in daily life and maintain interest in further academic and career development.

The learning process will be child-centred, with lesson plans and classroom activities customised according to the needs, interests, and learning progress of each child.

Around 70% of the role involves direct child engagement with a focus on socio-emotional learning, life skills, gender equity, and wellbeing, while the remaining time focuses on working with parents and teachers to build consistent support around each child.

Key Responsibilities

English Exposure Classes

• Conduct English Exposure Classes for students from Classes 3 to 10.
• Focus on building Listening, Speaking, and Reading skills in English.
• Use customised lesson plans based on the needs of each class and child.
• Use Audio/Visual materials, Group Discussions, Activities, Role Plays, Reading, and Narration to support learning.
• Encourage children to become self-learners.
• Focus on enabling children to apply their English learning in daily life.

Preparing Lesson Plans for English Exposure Classes

• Prepare lesson plans for each class keeping the individual needs of children in mind.
• Research and curate content through which children can be exposed to English.
• Develop Listening, Speaking, and Reading skills through varied classroom tools and activities.
• Prepare customised lesson plans for specific classroom and child requirements.
• Organise materials required for implementation, including audio-visual material, books, and other resources.
• Ensure flexibility in lesson plans to address classroom challenges and respond to immediate situations.

Tracking Progress for Each Child

• Understand and track the progress of each child.
• Build the next steps based on the child's stage of learning.
• Track what and how each child has learnt to determine the next steps in classroom engagement.
• Meet class teachers regularly to build an understanding of each child.
• Interact directly with children in classrooms.
• Document the progress of each child and define next steps.
• Participate in child-wise review meetings and identify and track actions for children and families.
• Research, curate, and modify content according to the specific needs of children.

Candidate Requirement

• Promote a culture of positivity, sharing, and relationship building with all stakeholders.
• Read and develop an understanding of organisational policies and processes and positively align with them.
• Participate in cleaning activities, break time, lunch, assembly, and other activities along with children.
• Avoid unnecessary gossip and casual conversations with or related to other team members.
• Avoid any kind of bias based on gender, religion, or caste while working with children, parents, and other staff members.

Requirements

• Experience in the education or development sector, preferably working with low-income communities.
• Strong planning and documentation abilities.
• Daily physical presence at assigned centres (Monday–Saturday).
• Some Saturdays may be non-working depending on programme requirements.
• Candidates with NGO or school-based experience will be preferred.
• Candidates residing in Noida or nearby areas are preferred.
