Associate Manager Livelihood

Job Summary

The Associate Manager – Livelihood will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of livelihood and enterprise development initiatives at Plastics For Change. The role will focus on strengthening income-generation opportunities for waste collector communities, supporting women micro-entrepreneurs, developing market and institutional linkages, coordinating capacity-building initiatives, and ensuring effective project documentation and reporting.

The position requires strong project management, stakeholder engagement, analytical, documentation, and enterprise development skills, along with a willingness to travel frequently across India based on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Operations & Learning

• Support project leads and teams in implementing livelihood activities aligned with project designs, activity plans, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with the Director – Social Additionality to enhance the technical quality of project interventions.
• Develop detailed implementation plans and budgets to support achievement of project objectives and targets.
• Issue relevant guidelines and directives for timely and effective implementation of project activities.
• Identify operational challenges and coordinate timely solutions with project teams and the Director – SA.
• Develop knowledge management products including case studies, success stories, technical manuals, and booklets.
• Promote reflective practices to continuously improve strategies and approaches for greater impact and scalability.

Enterprise Development

• Identify potential women entrepreneurs from intervention zones and collection points within waste collector communities.
• Monitor income-generation patterns and volumes through e-tricycle-based initiatives for informal waste collectors.
• Implement skill-training initiatives to strengthen livelihood and enterprise opportunities.
• Develop market linkages to support decent and sustainable income opportunities for target groups.
• Collaborate with government partnership teams, private-sector actors, and technical institutions for skilling and enterprise support.
• Build strong networks with stakeholders to support effective project delivery.
• Establish institutional linkages with banks, incubators, accelerators, retail outlets, and e-commerce platforms for financial and marketing support.

Capacity Building

• Organize entrepreneurship awareness and development programs for beneficiaries.
• Coordinate multi-stakeholder workshops focused on enterprise development.
• Conduct Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs (EAPs) and Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs).
• Conduct mentorship sessions for emerging entrepreneurs.
• Provide continuous business support and mentorship to women micro-entrepreneurs.
• Conduct capacity needs assessments for institutional partners as required.
• Develop IEC materials, demonstration tools, training modules, and capacity-building resources.

Reporting & Documentation

• Log key performance indicators (KPIs) into the PFC platform for monitoring.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation and data flow through the PFC technology platform.
• Review and update policies and SOPs along with the required documentation.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports in prescribed formats.
• Prepare and submit financial reports covering income and expenditure.
• Maintain and analyze MIS data related to livelihood activities.
• Provide project insights and analysis to the Director – Social Additionality and relevant teams.

General Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of professionalism and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Uphold PFC policies, SOPs, and organizational protocols.
• Foster collaborative communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure confidentiality and data security at all times.
• Be willing to travel frequently across India, including at short notice, based on project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the wider PFC team and external partners.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship Development, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of livelihood development and income-generation programs.
• Knowledge of social and environmental sustainability concepts.

Experience

• 3–5 years of relevant professional experience, with the role description specifying a minimum of 5 years in managing livelihood or income-generation programs in the social sector.
• Experience in social business development is highly desirable.
• Prior experience working with informal sectors and vulnerable workforce groups.
• Experience managing project deliverables within timelines and budgets.
